John J. Augustino joined Richardson Plowden in the Myrtle Beach office as an associate attorney in 2026. He focuses his practice exclusively on medical malpractice defense. He assists in the defense of physicians, hospitals, nursing homes, dentists, and other healthcare providers facing allegations ranging from negligence to wrongful death.
John is no stranger to Richardson Plowden. He started working as a paralegal with the Firm immediately after taking the bar exam and while awaiting admission to the South Carolina Bar. John earned his Juris Doctor from the Charleston School of Law in 2025 and his undergraduate degree from the College of Charleston in 2022. While completing law school in less than three years, John gained significant practical experience in civil litigation. He worked as a law clerk at Charleston Pro Bono Legal Services, assisting with family law and landlord-tenant matters. He also spent a significant amount of time working at a boutique civil litigation firm which focused on personal injury, construction defect, and medical malpractice litigation. Since he was 20 years old, John has worked in law firms on a variety of civil cases from both sides of the table, which is experience he employs every day in his current practice.
John is a member of the South Carolina Bar, the Horry County Bar Association, and the South Carolina Defense Trial Attorneys’ Association.
