Benjamin E. Nicholson joined Richardson Plowden in the Charleston office as an associate attorney in 2024. Mr. Nicholson focuses his practice in General Litigation.
Prior to practicing law with Richardson Plowden, Mr. Nicholson worked for a federally chartered credit union. Designated as a Credit Union Compliance Expert by the Credit Union National Association, Mr. Nicholson regularly advised and trained credit union stakeholders on financial regulation compliance and risk mitigation. He also conducted enterprise risk assessments and compliance reviews, performed fraud and BSA/AML investigations, and developed key credit union documents, including bylaw amendments, resolutions of the Board of Directors, consumer and business agreements and disclosures, policies, procedures, and internal control guidance.
Mr. Nicholson earned his Juris Doctor from the University of South Carolina School of Law in May 2020 and his Bachelor of Arts degree from Wofford College in May of 2017, where he studied finance and business. While earning his law degree, Mr. Nicholson clerked for another Columbia law firm. Following graduation, he served as judicial law clerk to The Honorable William P. Keesley.
